For Those About To Rawk: Rock Of Ages Set To Open At Boston’s Colonial Theatre

As you can probably glean from the cast photo above, Rock Of Ages is a wee departure from classic Broadway musical fare.  It’s an amped-up jukebox musical that was totally Glee before we even knew what the heck Glee was!  Huge, over the top 80’s rock woven (or rammed as it were) into a small town girl meets big city rocker love story.

Now, I know the green girl is casting her well deserved spell over at the Opera House, but if you’re looking for a departure, this just might be it.  The show opens at the Colonial on October 6th.

I haven’t seen the show, but I will review it after it opens, so this is a heads up not an endorsement. Take a peak at some of the key ingredients and see it adds up to a menu item you’d like to try.

The national tour of Rock of Ages features American Idol finalist Constantine Maroulis in the starring role he created for Broadway.  It features the music of Journey, Styx, Night Ranger, Bon Jovi, Twisted Sister, Pat Benatar, Posion, White Snake … do you have an 80’s brain freeze yet?

What songs you ask?

Don’t Stop Believin, Sister Christian, Wanted Dead or Alive, Harden My Heart, I Wanna Rock, Can’t Fight This Feeling … yeah, they’re all there.  It has the makings of a really good time, but it’s not around for long (October 6-17). Tickets are available at the Colonial box office and through

Here’s a few more links for the show you can check out, and stay tuned for my review of Rock Of Ages on Friday October 8th.
